The overall SCUCISD student population has historically grown at an average annual rate of 8% over the past seven years. For 2011, the student enrollment at Samuel Clemens HS was more than 1800, and student growth for the next ten-year period is projected to increase at an average annual rate of 3-4%. The main campus of Samuel Clemens High School currently encompasses about 49 acres of educational building structures, and multiple athletic facilities, including a baseball and football stadium, and a separate Athletic Complex on an adjacent 13 acre parcel providing additional facilities for expanding the athletic program.

CDS Muery was selected to provide civil engineering design and surveying services for renovations to the school’s main campus existing athletic facilities and for construction of new Athletic Complex facilities. Renovations included the complete retrofit of the baseball stadium infield, the football stadium field, the practice football and soccer field, and the addition of 45 parking space area. The Athletic Complex consisted of a new softball stadium, soccer practice field, eight lighted tennis courts, 1800 LF of paved access road and 212 asphalt parking spaces.

Specific services provided by CDS Muery for the renovations of the main campus facilities consisted of demolition and regrading of the grounds to meet standard criteria, and complete replacement of the existing turf and sand with new material and irrigation systems for the sport facilities. The specific services for the new facilities at the Athletic Complex consisted of grading and drainage design for all sport facilities, floodplain analysis, roadway and parking pavement design, storm water management design, utility design to provide domestic water distribution, fire protection, and wastewater collection. Surveying services provided included setting control, design survey for topography and existing site conditions, and boundary survey. Regulatory entitlements preparation and submittals were required for ADA access design, PS&E documents for City and SCUCISD approvals, City subdivision platting, and TPDES SW3P for construction.
